Grade 1

Grade 1 admissions are subject to the GDE’s e-admissions system and placement criteria. This is done via the GDE online registration portal. You may access the portal via this link: www.gdeadmissions.gov.za

Yearly, the GDE announces the opening of registrations on their portal. Only then you can log in to the GDE portal using the link above and follow the relevant instructions.

You will need to create a profile on the GDE site and enter a valid mobile phone number as communications from the GDE are conducted via SMS on this number.

Admissions Criteria:
• Learners who reside with at least one of their parents in the feeder zone of the school
• The learner has a sibling already attending the school (excluding Grade 7)
• One of the parent’s place of employment is within the feeder zone of the school
• The learner’s place of residence is beyond 30 km radius of the school

To improve your chances for placement into a school, it is highly recommended that you apply to more than one school in the area.

Grade 2-7

Grade 2-7 admissions are subject to the admission periods as set out by the
Department of Basic Education (DBE).

Based on specific criteria, applicants are placed on one of two waiting lists, either A or B. To be placed on List A, the learner must meet one of the following criteria:

• Learners who reside with at least one of their parents in the feeder zone of the school
• The learner has a sibling already attending the school (excluding Grade 7)

• One of the parent’s place of employment is within the feeder zone of the school
• The learner’s place of residence is beyond 30 km radius of the school
Learners who do not meet one of the above criteria will be placed on waiting list B. Lists are generated in chronological order based on receipt date of applications.

The school will inform parents in writing, whether the learners’ application was successful.
